Rhythm Africa

The RHYTHMERS is the new afro-highlife sensation from Berlin, led by Ekow Alabi Savage on drums and vocals. Together with the veteran Gbemu Kwame Sometimer (bass and vocals) and Frank Karikari (guitar and vocals, son of the legendary Ralph Karikari), he is deeply rooted in the highlife & afrobeat music of his home country, Ghana, which has a rich tradition of blending sounds from fokloric music with jazz, r&b and international pop. The RHYTHMERS continue this tradition in present day Berlin, adding bits of soukous, salsa, afrobeat, reggae and other rhythms to the mix. The quintet is rounded out by the French-American Nick Morrison on lead guitar and the Kölner ROCCO on percussion.
