Despite My Deepest Fear
(Metalcore, UK)
Having formed in 2010 from the remnants of high school bands and a shared vision for UK metal, Despite My Deepest Fear (DMDF) burst onto the underground metal scene without hesitation. Drawing influence from the then-booming deathcore community, their first release, "This Dies With Us", was released digitally and was received with critical acclaim, putting DMDF in a strong position for their debut album "Dimensions".
In 2011, the trend of heavier metal dissipated with the reemergence of more rhythmically prominent riffs and breakdowns seen in the early 2000s. This prompted DMDF to draw inspiration from their US and European counterparts such as The Devil Wears Prada, Caliban and Killswitch Engage. Post-release of the album, DMDF relentlessly played show after show, tour after tour, endlessly endeavouring to spread their name and reputation for energetic live performances. This lead to them sharing the stage with such international heavyweights as Of Mice & Men, Deaf Havana, Lower Than Atlantis and While She Sleeps to name just a few.
The new year came thick and fast for DMDF, losing drummer and best friend Dan Kerr from the band in the middle of writing a new release. This, in truth, came as a blessing in disguise for the band as it gave them a fresh start and new motivation to all chip in and write to their full potential. This culminated in the release of their first music video "Game Changer" with the majority applauding the band's progression in the melodic and structural aspects of their song writing. Make or Break, the band's forthcoming release, is hoping to put a dent in the music industry DMDF have always aspired to create.
