Zum Film:
In his eighth feature film Quentin Tarantino brings together eight shady characters in a small hut in the Wild West and lets them duke it out.
On his way to the city to deliver Daisy Domergue to the hangman, bounty hunter John Ruth picks up two shady guys in his stagecoach, fellow bounty hunter Marquis Warren and unrepentant redneck Chris Mannix. Due to heavy weather they have to make a stop at Minnie?s Haberdashery where four more suspicious men are already holed up. The situation is tense from the get go, as loyalties and agendas are unclear at first. But soon it becomes apparent that at least one of the men is there to free Daisy Domergue, even if it means killing all others.
Following ?Django Unchained? the eighth movie by Quentin Tarantino is another unusual western that revels in its perverse fun of combining seemingly contradictory elements: The film is shot marvelously in 70mm, but spends most of its running time in claustrophobically close quarters. Divided into six parts and populated mainly by Tarantino?s favorite actors, who savor each and every juicy line of dialogue fed to them, the Western elements soon give way to an Agatha Christie like whodunnit and a theatrical drama in the style of Eugene O?Neill.
