Johnny Armstrong

“Merciless!” is the English version of Johnny’s current German stand-up solo, featuring his best material to-date plus all those gags that only work in English.

Over the course of an hour, Johnny’s relentless machine gun delivery wears away the audience’s defences. His act is a manifestation of inconsequentiality, marinated in self-deprecation, seasoned with wordplay and served with an extra portion of black humour.

Bio:

Johnny Armstrong is the naturalised Irish son of an English mother and a Scottish Father. He was raised in Saudi Arabia, educated at a boarding school in the English seaside town of Blackpool and completed his academic career at the University of Edinburgh with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Parallel to his studies he performed at the Bedlam Theatre.

His talent for making people laugh eventually led him to stand-up – and in 2013 finally to Germany. Since then, Johnny’s unique brand of comedy has received many accolades: he was awarded the Mannheim Comedy Cup for Newcomers, the Radio Fritz Talent Night Spoken Word Trophy, and has won several poetry slams throughout Berlin.

He can regularly be seen performing at Quatsch Comedy Club and Night Wash Live, and has made over 20 stand-up appearances on German, Austrian and Swiss TV. In 2016, Johnny began a successful tour with his first solo show “Gnadenlos!” – the English version of which, he has performed across Europe.

From late 2019, Johnny will be previewing his second, 90-minute, German solo show, updating his hour-long English show “Merciless” to include all the best bits.
