Iskandar Widjaja is considered one of the most interesting violinists of the younger generation. The “complexity of his style, his musical imagination with the most varied sonic nuances and facets, as well as his flawless technique and great charisma” [Maestro C. Eschenbach] are praised by colleagues and the media alike. His extremely wide-ranging repertoire is especially focussed on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

In his second homeland of Indonesia, he is perceived like a “pop” phenomenon; his medial presence already resulted there in a “trending topic” status (most frequently named term) on twitter©. He collaborates with the premiere-league of classical artists, such as Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Rolando Villazon and Fazil Say. The current season sees debuts with some of Germanys top Orchestras: the Konzerthausorchestra Berlin, the Deutsche Symphonieorchester Berlin and recordings for a new album with works by Robert Schumann in collaboration with Maestro Christoph Eschenbach as a pianist and conductor. Recital Debuts lead to Hong Kong(City Hall), Manila and Jakarta with his partner Itamar Golan.
Reviews of his recent tour with the Tchaikovsky concerto rave about his "hypnotic intensity and beguiling silky sound...he can create colours which are rarely heard. Iskandar Widjaja-a name to watch."

Highlights of the last season were his debut with the Munich Philharmonic under Christoph Eschenbach at the festival Kissingen Summer and the Munich Gasteig, his debut under Zubin Mehta with the Orchestra Maggio Musicale Firenze at the Tonhalle in Zurich , as well as solo recitals at the Munich Gasteig and the Rheingau Music Festival. Iskandar is the LOTTO promotional prize winner 2013 of the Rheingau Music Festival, a prize awarded annually to a young soloist of the "next generation"scheme. The jury’s explanation was as follows:
