Free to Demolish: Art in Public Spaces

Do. 10.10.19 19:00

archint_1989_cz:de

Not only buildings that have been built between 1945 and 1990 but also works of art in public spaces from that time period are experiencing disturbing fates after the Velvet Revolution and the fall of the Berlin Wall. In Czechoslovakia as well as in the GDR works of art were compulsory incorporated into public procurements. After 1990 questions of ownership, maintenance, reconstruction or indifference arise. How should these works of art be treated? Are they already documented? What is their quality? Who is working on their preservation? Is the political turn a reason for getting rid of them? Who is responsible for them? Jana Kořínková and Martin Maleschka will present their projects which deal with these questions.
