Galapagos Now! & Dante

Galapagos Now! likes to believe it stole your dingo stealing baby. On the radar of Brooklyn’s underground since 2007, the Now! has carved a niche for itself as “a riotous, art-house-indie-punk-rock celebration of being different,” if the hype is to be believed. Having released three albums—the eponymous debut, a “post-nautical” follow up, The Beards of London, as well as EP, Compulsive Behavior—the band will be releasing another full length: Worm.
Galapagos Now! is a quartet that revolves around the collaboration between founders Joe Dairy and Mark Gurarie. Lead singer and guitarist Dairy aka Jeff Waite has put out eight solo records—a testament to his prolific work as an indie anti-Americana singer-songwriter. Gurarie, a poet, sings “ugly,” as he likes to put it, adding a post-punk flair to the proceedings, while holding down the bass. On the drums the two are joined by Craig Brookes, himself a singer-songwriter and leader of erstwhile Fairbanks, AK outfit, Paper Scissors. The ensemble is rounded out by keyboard player and vocalist, Cedric Wilson, co-frontperson of NYC-based art-rock stalwarts, Dreamwell.
The band has toured New England, the Midwest and South of the US, as well as Europe. 2012 saw the band tour Ireland and the UK behind a European release of Beards of London by Welsh label, HabitFormed Records. In August 2013, the tour behind that label’s release of Compulsive Behavior brought them to the UK, Spain and Germany. Most recently, Beijing, China-based Pocket Records secured rights to stream the band’s discography in their country. So Long, the first single off of Worm., is already out!

Dante wurde 2014 von Dam und Jonte, nach jahrelanger musikalischer Zusammenarbeit, in Berlin gegründet. 4 Jahre deutschlandweite Bühnenerfahrung und 2 Alben später wollen Dante mit einer Live-Band musikalisch über sich hinauswachsen. Jetzt werden Grenzen gebrochen - der klassische Boom Bap Hip Hop wird gewürzt mit einer Hand voll Funk, Soul und Rock, etwas Blues und 68er sowie einer Prise Punk ohne dass die Wurzeln vergessen werden.
