Kiezsalon 2018 - Dent May & Koenraad Ecker

Kiezsalon returns to the new year with self-described hotel bar lounge singer Dent May and Belgian sound-sculptor Koenraad Ecker. Dent May – aspiring daytime TV talk show host in his spare time – has been charming his way into the hearts of music fans since the release of his debut album The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele on Animal Collective’s Paw Tracks label in 2009.

For nearly a decade, Dent May has crafted bright, homemade pop songs that pull from the past—disco, soft-rock, country-western, psychedelia, soul, funk—all with light-hearted wit and his distinct croon. Across The Multiverse, his fourth full-length album, finds the Mississippi native embracing a hi-fi sound with the sheen of his new surroundings in Los Angeles.

Since early 2015 the Kiezsalon has offered a forum for innovative musical activity beyond genre boundaries. As an interface between advanced pop music, avantgarde and interdisciplinary art the series presents compact performances by artists from diverse genres, origin and status – initiated by Digital in Berlin and based at one of the last authentic locations in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg, the 120 year old Schneider Brewery. Following three exciting years the Kiezsalon has established itself as a popular and successful series, so far hosting 64 artists from 25 different countries. We are also happy to say that our 2017 roster has more than 50% female artists.
