Malabika Brahma und Nilgün Aksoy sind auf der Suche nach den musikalischen Verbindungen zwischen Indien und Anatolien. In ihrem Projekt Delhi Istanbul Express schreiben, komponieren
und arrangieren sie Kompositionen, die die alten Traditionen Zentralasiens und Indiens kombinieren.

Malabika Brahma ist Musikerin, Sängerin und Komponistin, spezialisiert auf die Baul-Traditionen Bengals. Ihre Musik ist eine Fusion aus Folk, Blues und indischer klassischer Musik, beeinflusst
von vedischem Hinduismus und der mystischen Minnesänger-Tradition. Malabika tourt regelmäßig und tritt in religiösen Ashrams und Akharas sowie auf populären Musikfestivals weltweit auf.

Die türkische Sängerin Nilgün Aksoy wurde in Istanbul geboren und zog im Alter von 17 Jahren in die Niederlande. Dort entwickelte sie ihr Interesse an traditioneller modaler Musik, begann die
traditionellen Saiteninstrumente Bağlama und Kemane zu spielen und studierte türkische Musik am Codarts Rotterdam Konservatorium. Im Jahr 2008 zog sie nach Hamburg, gründete dort mit ihrem
Mann die Schule für Anatolische Musik und unterrichtet dort bis heute. Gastmusiker*innen aus verschiedenen Genres werden oft in dieses Projekt eingeladen, was den
freien und modernen Ansatz weiter verfolgt.

Malabika Brahma and Nilgün Aksoy are exploring the musical connections between India and Anatolia. In their project Delhi Istanbul Express, they write, compose, and arrange compositions
that combine the ancient traditions of Central Asia and India.

Malabika Brahma is a musician, singer, and composer specializing in the Baul traditions of Bengal. Her music is a fusion of folk, blues, and Indian classical music, influenced by Vedic Hinduism and
the mystic minstrel tradition. Malabika regularly tours and performs at religious Ashrams and Akharas, as well as popular music festivals worldwide.

Turkish singer Nilgün Aksoy was born in Istanbul and moved to the Netherlands at the age of 17. There, she developed her interest in traditional modal music, began playing the traditional string
instruments Bağlama and Kemane, and studied Turkish music at the Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory. In 2008, she moved to Hamburg, where she co-founded the School of Anatolian

Music with her husband and continues to teach there to this day.
Guest musicians from various genres are often invited to participate in this project, further pursuing
its free and modern approach.
